Another rejected tattooed candidate: Do recruiters really hate body art?

Costco have rejected a potential candidate because of a tattoo on her hand of her partners name.

Joanna Sutherland, 37, interviewed for a cash and carry position at a Costco branch in Gateshead and during her second interview, she was immediately turned down for the role due to her visible tattoo.

She told The Daily Mail that she “flew through the first interview” but when she was questioned by a second interviewer, who she also claims was an hour late for the interview, he immediately noticed her tattoo and terminated the meeting.

“No sooner had I sat down he looked at my hand and told me he would not be carrying on the interview, as I had a tattoo on my hand which was visible,” Sutherland explained.
