Silicon Valley SHAME: Female workers reveal abusive culture

The high-profile excavation of Uber’s cultural skeletons – including revelations of unchecked sexual harassment and on-film outbursts from the ex-CEO – has increased scrutiny on Silicon Valley firms.

Under particular spotlight is the technology and start-up sector’s attitude towards women, as more Silicon Valley female staffers reveal harassment they’ve experienced and barriers they’ve encountered – NYT reports.

An ongoing NYT investigation reveals how “sexual harassment in the tech start-up ecosystem goes beyond one firm and is pervasive and ingrained”.

One female entrepreneur recounts how she had been propositioned by a Silicon Valley venture capitalist while seeking a job. She did not get the job after rejecting his advances.
