Earnest British workers are missing out on their workplace rights, with one in 10 employees never taking a lunch break.
According to research by Metro Bank, three million workers across the UK take only one lunch break a week, and over half of those surveyed (57%) take half an hour or less. Over one-third (35%) blamed a lack of time on their inability to stray from the workplace.
Workers in the arts and entertainment sectors were most likely to plough on through lunch (33%) followed by those in health (27%) and education (26%). In contrast, over half of those working in manufacturing ensure that they take a lunch break five or more times a week (53%).
Furthermore, women were more likely (23%) to fail to take a break compared to 15% of men.
