Cancer hoax employee dupes firm out of thousands

A former energy firm staff member conned her employer out of £15,000 in sick pay and loans, carrying out a cancer hoax complete with fictive social media posts – Gainsborough Standard reports.

Kelsey Whitehead claimed she had stage four Metastatic Osteosarcoma, ‘revealing’ her condition on Facebook and faking a whole range of symptoms to trick her employer Carbon Electric.

Whitehead even inserted a drip into her chest to make it look like she was having medication administered.

Prosectuor, Phil Howes, claimed that Whitehead also shaved off her hair and used make-up to give the impression she was not sleeping at night.
