Why do in-house recognition schemes deliver poor ROI?

Any HR department worth its weight understands that when they’re workforce is satisfied, valued and appreciated they’ll be more productive.

However, just under half (48%) of UK employees are not happy at work, according to a survey from Personal Group.

The survey interviewed almost 800 workers and found one of the reasons contributing to unhappiness was a lack of recognition, with 35% admitting they would be happier if they had more recognition in the workplace.

A separate survey by Monster found that over half of employees do not feel thanked enough for their hard work, supported by the fact that 41% of bosses acknowledge that they do not express gratitude towards their employees frequently enough.
