Conflict happens. Be it innocuous – “who used the last teabag!!?” – or something more sinister.
What matters is how it is resolved. It’s perfectly possible for an agile and compassionate HR department to see both sides of the argument, sit those involved down and come to the conclusion that’s best for the business.
It seems that just over half of UK firms are currently effective at dealing with problems in the workplace though, according to The Conflict Report 2017 by Cascade HR. In fact, nearly one in five believe that official methods of conflict resolution need to be improved.
Workers feel that the best way to reduce conflict is by holding frequent team meetings (19%); the same number believe better employee recognition would build a positive work environment and aid the overcoming of conflict issues.
