Employee claims she was fired because of her 'period situation'

Rachel Rickert, a model for Hyundai at the New York International Auto Show, was allegedly fired for being on her period – The Independent reports.

During the show, she wished to go to the toilet to change her tampon but was not allowed. As a result, she soiled her clothes.

She informed her rep of her situation and explained that she would need to change. However, according to her US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint, she was told to go home by Hyundai due to her “period situation”.

A couple of days later, her rep called and notified her that she would be fired. This was “because Hyundai heard about Ms Rickert having her menstrual cycle and they didn’t want [her] representing the company anymore”, her EEOC complaint says.
