President Trump is no stranger to the media’s spotlight. The most recent development in the President’s plan for employers is the revoking of the Obamacare pledge on birth control for staff, according to reports.
According to Vox.com, Trump’s administration is looking at exemptions to the bill. These could mean that employers who disagree with birth control for moral or religious reasons don’t have to supply their employees with access to it.
Kaylie Hanson Long, NARAL Pro-Choice America’s Communications Director, told USA Today: “The birth control coverage benefit in our nation's health care law was the single greatest advancement in reproductive health care in a generation. It gave millions of women more control over their own lives by making birth control affordable and accessible - and it was fiscally responsible to boot.”
Obamacare requires almost all employers to cover the costs of birth control, something which was protested by religious businesses. The Affordable Care Act also covers benefits such as breastfeeding equipment, HPV testing and domestic violence screenings.
