The gulf between how employees act when leaving their current or past company, to how they present themselves in a new job is, as a rule, massive.

First impressions are, of course, important. Yet, they’re not the only thing that matters.

Employees that hold themselves to impossible standards, and those who clock too much unpaid overtime and practise ‘presenteeism’, are at risk of burnout – or, at risk of being judged against the immaculate image they presented when they first started.

Although a new CV-Library survey has found that nearly three-quarters of workers (70.5%) want to impress their boss for the entire time they’re at a company, it’s important to pace yourself.
