The average UK commuter will spend a year of their life commuting, a survey from insurance specialists Lexham found earlier this month, so HR needs to make sure their arrival to work is as stress-free a possible given that staff may have already dealt with screaming children kicking the back of their seat, snails’ pace, rage-inducting traffic or the baffling musical choices of their passenger.
With this in mind, spare a thought for Tesla employees. The company has experienced rapid personnel growth (their current number has swelled to 6,000, and that may rise further), but there are only 4,500 spaces at their parking lot.
Arguments about car-sharing, the environment and using public transport aside, HR needs to remember that making people as relaxed as possible when they arrive at work is so important. Stressed staff produce substandard results. It’s simple.
Tesla’s maverick boss Elon Musk is working to fix the issue, WSJ confirmed, but, in the meantime, a rogue worker has set up an Instagram account to document the mayhem.
