Bosses willing to turn blind eye on malpractice for business survival

Just under half of UK employees believe their boss would do something unethical in a bid to save their business.

42% of British employees think senior management at their workplace would break business rules for the organisations to survive a rough patch, with 12% believing senior staff would offer cash payments to win or retain business. A further 16% believe senior management would offer personal gifts to ensure the business stays afloat.

Just under a quarter have heard their managers discuss the importance of keeping up with ethical standards on a regular basis. Three-quarters of UK employees, however, said they would support further policies to hold individuals accountable for malpractice.

Per the researchers, the UK appears to have made little progress since the survey was last run two years ago, despite regulations such as The Senior Managers' and Certification Regime, which was introduced last year to combat turning a blind eye to wrongdoing – City AM reports.
