Morale is a difficult thing to control.
For example, going out for a post-work pint or espresso martini (or both) is typically seen as good indicator of morale, but recent research by Canada Life Group Insurance found that 28% of UK employees felt pressured into drinking alcohol at work in the past; men more often feel they are subjected to such pressure than women (32% compared to 22%).
Similarly, Snap Inc’s idyllic beachfront offices were also seen as a risk to employee morale – despite the fact that said office was envy-inducing for employees from most other employers. Former employees told Business Insider that the scattered layout can create team fiefdoms.
Writing in C-Suite, commercial property firm Savoy Stewart gave six effective ways to boost employee morale - with no alcohol or multi-million-pound office renovations in sight.
