McDonald's employee goes BEYOND duty & saves customer's life

Some workers are happy to turn up, do their job, and go home. Others need to be cajoled into meeting employer expectations and others go above and beyond their duties, time, and time, again.

One member of McDonald’s would definitely fit into the latter employee category, as he recently leapt through a drive-thru window to save the life of a customer – The Metro reports.

Pedro Viloria, was serving breakfast to an off-duty police officer at McDonald’s in Florida when he could see that she had stopped breathing and then lost consciousness.

As a result, her foot slipped off the brake and the car, with her kids in the back, started rolling towards traffic.

Without hesitation, Pedro jumped through his service hatch and ran after the car, which stopped before it hit traffic.

Viloria said: “I thought, If these kids lose their mother today, that’s gonna’ be tragic.”

A paramedic and firefighter were both in McDonald’s at the time and were able to perform CPR on the woman.

Viloria’s boss released the following statement: “I think I speak for our McDonald’s family when I say how proud we are of Pedro.

“He is an excellent employee, so it didn’t surprise me that he took immediate action and jumped through a window to help save this woman. And he was not the only member of the team that played a pivotal role in ensuring she received the medical attention she needed.

“A second employee, who asked to remain unnamed, assisted with CPR. Their quick thinking and action were everything in that moment.”

Ashish GambhirPresident of employee engagement software company MomentSnap, recently spoke on the need to recognise your best staff.

Gambhir says: “Being valued is more than receiving a paycheck and benefits. When employees excel at their jobs, they expect to be recognised — not necessarily with a bonus or stock options, but with words.”
