'Working Forward' to end discrimination against pregnant women & new mothers

A former high-level employee of fashion retailer Nicole Miller, claims that she was discriminated against and subsequently fired when her pregnancy was revealed.

Wendy Simchi-Levy, 34, who allegedly worked closely with Nicole Miller at the company's New York office, has filed a lawsuit against the firm for ostracising her once her pregnancy became public.

As reported in NY Daily News, the suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court found that Simchi-Levi was hired by Miller in July, and according to papers Miller allegedly said: “Oh, so you knew you were pregnant when you interviewed?”

Following the conversation, discrimination ensued as Miller refused to address Simchi-Levi directly during meetings, Simchi-Levi’s office was moved which she claims made her job more difficult and following an incident of delays over a new line of sweaters, Miller called her “a f***ing a*****e” – papers claim.
