Vodafone launches global recruitment scheme to help women re-enter workplace

Vodafone has launched a new programme to increase opportunities for those who have taken a career break – most likely women who often leave the workplace to raise a family.

The Vodafone ReConnect programme will help individuals who want to return to work on a full-time or flexible basis, but feel they have lost the skills to do so.

The ReConnect programme will include:

  • Recruitment outreach activities to raise awareness among women on career breaks
  • Training and induction programmes to enhance professional skills and help women prepare to re-enter the workplace
  • Unconscious bias training for hiring managers
  • Employment terms such as flexible working options and a ‘phased’ return to work

The initiative will operate across 26 countries, and the target is to recruit 1,000 employees through the programme, and bring up to 500 women on career breaks into management roles over the next three years. These recruits will account for 10% of all Vodafone's external management hires over that period.
