Tesco made January headlines as the firm revealed plans to cut 1,000 distribution-centre jobs.
Coupled with last year’s revelations that the supermarket chain was considering 39,000 instore redundancies, staff can be forgiven for worrying about their job security.

Now, the retailer’s management are also bracing themselves for job cuts: Tesco has made public its plans to replace 1,700 deputy managers across its Express convenience stores.
Their work will be taken by an extra 3,300 lower paid ‘shift leaders’ – increasing staff numbers by 1,600.
