In 1977 James Callaghan was Prime Minister, Red Rum would win the Grand National for the third time and the Sex Pistols were the band of the moment.

That may all seem a lifetime ago, but some in HR believe that the world of human resources hasn’t moved on from that year.

Speaking to Business Insider on the subject of what to do when HR won’t help, former HR leader turned speaker, writer (‘I AM HR: 5 Strategic Ways to Break Stereotypes and Reclaim HR'), entrepreneur and Founder of start-up GlitchPath, Laurie Ruettimann said: “People behave in really shady ways at all kinds of organisations throughout America and throughout the global employment landscape.

"What's shocking to me is that we're having the same conversation in 2017 that we were in 1977."
