77% of staff don't consult HR before an office romance

It is human instinct to warm to individuals we get along with especially in the workplace where camaraderie is welcome.

However, when our feelings for our colleagues transcend beyond friendship, and we feel the urge to take it to the next level, it’s often best to err on the side of caution and check company policy beforehand.

However, despite over half of Brits engaging in a workplace romance, 77% confessed that they do not consult HR before or after they have fallen head over heels.

Just under a third (32%) are unsure if their employment contract forbids relationships with colleagues, according to new research, commissioned by employment law experts Slater and Gordon.
