Facebook extends leave for grieving employees

Facebook has announced, effective immediately, that its paid bereavement leave, family care leave and paid family sick time will be extended – Business Insider reports.

Bereavement leave will extend to 20 days for an immediate family member, and up to ten days for an extended family member.

The social media giant is also extending the length of its paid leave for employees who need to care for a sick relative. This will extend to up to six weeks. Family sick time, to care for a family member with a short-term illness, like flu, will be introduced as well.

The California-based company are already in Glassdoor’s top three ranked organisations globally for employee compensation and benefits – a ranking-system which is compiled from voluntary, anonymous testimonials.
