You may envy Snap Inc’s - the parent company of Snapchat - idyllic beachfront offices, which consist of transformed condos fitted with unisex showers – allowing employees to wash sand off from the beach - which is just steps away.
However, while it may be a desirable place to work on the surface, the diffuse nature of the offices risks denting employee morale - Business Insider reports.
The spread-out campus, which incorporates various offices hosting different teams, has no central meeting space and therefore fosters isolation.
Former employees told Business Insider that the scattered layout can create team fiefdoms, especially when meetings between separate offices require a 15-minute walk. Employees are also unaware of their colleagues or other Snap buildings whereabouts. The only indicator that a building belongs to Snap Inc is if the company’s ghost logo, “Ghostface Chillah”, is imprinted on an office’s front door.
