Yesterday’s House of Commons vote ensured that the short bill granting Government the power to invoke Article 50, taking Britain out of the European Union, will get a second reading.
Although 498 MPs voted for the bill, 114 MPs voted against the Brexit legislation – with many of the MPs voting against the bill’s passage arguing that they were supporting their constituency’s Brexit preference.
