David Cameron allegedly 'tried to get Daily Mail Editor sacked' over Brexit stance

Top bosses often have to deal with political pressure and media scrutiny, defending company practises and, sometimes, their own job.

BBC reports that former Prime Minister David Cameron attempted to get the Daily Mail Editor Paul Dacre sacked due to his ‘vociferous’ anti-EU Brexit campaigning, show the high stakes involved when politicians apply pressure to top-level executives.

Cameron wanted Dacre, a Eurosceptic for more than 25 years, to temper his publication’s pro-Brexit editorial. A Westminister source claims that Cameron met with the Daily Mail’s Owner, Lord Rothermere, in an attempt to get Dacre sacked.

Political commentators widely agree that the Daily Mail’s campaign for Brexit was an important factor in June’s historic referendum result.
