Google workers walk out to protest Donald Trump's immigration ban

Donald Trump’s executive order ban on immigration has polarised opinion and sparked protests - as well as highlighting the diverse workforce makeup of some corporate giants.

Therefore, yesterday's Google rally protesting Trump’s immigration ban, further illustrates growing tensions between the tech industry and the new US administration – Bloomberg reports.

Protesting against Trump’s order, which includes a 120-day ban on refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries, Google’s 2000 workers and executives walked out en masse from several offices across the US.

Fearing for its immigrant workforce – which the internet services company numbered at 187 employees – CEO Sundar Pichai and Co-Founder Sergey Brin spoke to crowds at Google’s Californian headquarters.
