An episode of the investigative documentary series Dispatches suggests that staff at Boohoo.com’s warehouses can get in trouble for smiling or checking the time.
The episode looks at the manufacturing process embedded in Britain’s cheap clothes culture, and seems to show people being punished via a strike system for “minor” mistakes.
The BBC reports that one of the punishments doled out to workers is to be docked 15 minutes worth of pay for being one minute late to their shift.
In the programme, an ex-Boohoo Team Leader, Keiron Hardman, says: “Guys check the time on their phones and we've been asked to give people strikes for that.
