Millennials shunning traditional 'blue collar' for office-based jobs

Low interest in trade occupations such as construction and transportation amongst younger generations could result in future talent shortages.

The Indeed Hiring Lab, a global research institute committed to advancing the knowledge of human resource and talent management professionals worldwide, released a new report revealing the differences and similarities in job search behaviour between staff members.

The study analysed the job searches of Baby Boomers (aged 51–70), Gen Xers (aged 31–50) and Millennials (aged 21–30) and discovered that the younger, tech savvy generation was dismissing traditionally ‘blue collar’ jobs in favour of office-based, creative jobs in sales, arts, design, media and education.
