Just 42% of FTSE 100 companies recognise mental health as an issue, according to a report.
Lockton Benefits, an independent insurance brokerage firm and the purveyor of the survey, found that the majority of businesses do not acknowledge mental health in the workplace as a concern, while just 30% of FTSE 100 companies have programmes targeting the subject in place.
Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine Chris Rofe, Senior Vice President of Lockton Benefits, explains the unique mental health issues which arise from a business environment. He said: “Mental health issues effect businesses of different sizes in different ways.
“Large corporates are particularly at risk of mental health issues for a host of reasons. For example, if businesses have people working overseas – which clearly applies to the majority of large corporates, the risks of mental health issues increase exponentially.
