Charity fundraising is a piece of cake for Crown Workforce Management Systems which cooked up something special for its chosen charity of the year.

The cake bake, which featured a bountiful array of tasty treats - from coffee and walnut cake and rocky road slices to raspberry and white chocolate roulade and ginger loaf - raised £350 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Crown’s staff bought a selection of the sweet stuff on offer which was produced by 17 bakers among the workforce.

They then took the surplus to neighbours on the Tamworth Business Park in Amington, Staffordshire, raising extra cash.

In the lead-up to Easter, the fundraisers also held a tombola for a selection of chocolate goodies, which had been donated by supplier Total ID.

Crown Workforce Management Systems employees were asked to nominate and vote on their chosen charity at their company ‘Kick Off’ event in January. Macmillan was the resounding winner and staff are planning a variety of individual and joint events in 2017 – Crown’s 30th anniversary year.

Sue Brandon, Crown’s marketing and events co-ordinator, said: “We were delighted with the involvement of staff for our cake bake. They really put in a lot of effort; went into their kitchens, put on aprons and baked up some fantastic creations.”
