Government's ageism champion backs REC plans for older workers pledge

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has announced plans for an ‘Older Workers Pledge’.

Endorsed by Dr Ros Altmann, the government’s Business Champion for Older Workers and developed with Age UK, the pledge aims to raise awareness of the issues faced by older workers and champion best practice within the recruitment industry.

REC Chief Executive Kevin Green says: “Building on the success of other initiatives highlighting the importance of diversity in the workforce, including our Youth Employment Charter and work on gender diversity at board level, we have begun a dialogue with Age UK about how recruiters can pledge to better support older workers when they make their next career move.
