Emotional Intelligence (EI) could be stopping career progression in HR, according new research.
The study, developed by JCA Global, shows that whilst HR staff demonstrate high levels of EI these soft skills can affect goal orientation.
Jo Maddocks, Director at JCA Global, commented: “The very thing that HR professionals are good at, connecting with others at a personal level, is holding them back when it comes to their career progression.
“If the HR sector wants a place at the board table and to be involved in senior-level company strategy, it must not only be adept at the softer interpersonal aspects, but also the harder self-management components of emotional intelligence.
