Crown Workforce Management has again been accepted as an approved supplier for the latest iteration of the Government’s G-Cloud procurement framework. The Crown Workforce Management solution for the cloud is now available via the Digital Marketplace.

G-Cloud 10 went live this month (July) providing public sector organisations with the opportunity to identify technology suppliers and purchase services without lengthy tender processes.

The G-Cloud framework was launched in March 2012 and Crown has been part of the framework since its early days.

It has been held up as an example of how IT procurement across the public sector can be transformed by allowing organisations to purchase services from a much wider pool of suppliers – particularly smaller and medium-sized enterprises.

Each iteration of the framework gives existing suppliers the chance to update and upgrade their offerings in the Digital Marketplace with new features, enhancements and pricing.

Harish Rao, Crown’s Chief Technology Officer, said that the requirements for G-Cloud 10 were more rigorous than ever before, particularly in light of heightened concerns about security and privacy in the increasingly digital world.

“Particular emphasis has been placed on data privacy, cyber security and the flexibility of the service delivery."

"So, although the process has been more stringent, it fits hand in glove with Crown’s strategy for the cloud, with our software being tightly secured within Microsoft Azure,” he said.

Oliver Dowden, the UK Government Minister for Implementation, is reported as saying that the system was "breaking down barriers for smaller suppliers", which in turn was helping deliver innovative solutions in partnership with the public sector.

Crown’s inclusion within previous iterations of the framework has generated a number of key contracts with departments within local and central government including facilities, security and catering which use its HR, rostering, and time and attendance systems.
