Workplace conflict | Acas proposes major grievance procedure overhaul with focus on early resolution

Employers and workers would be encouraged to address workplace concerns informally before beginning formal grievance procedures under proposed changes to the Acas Code of Practice.

The organisation has launched a public consultation on a new draft Code of Practice on disciplinary and grievance procedures, marking the first significant review of the Code since 2009.

The proposals place a stronger emphasis on resolving concerns early, with workers potentially expected to explain what informal steps they have taken before submitting a formal written grievance.

The consultation opened on 30th July and will close on 23rd September.
