Energised workforce | National Grid launches £5m scheme to help 5,000 young people into work

National Grid has unveiled a £5 million employability programme aimed at helping 5,000 young people move towards long-term employment over the next five years.

The Power Within Employability Fund will support up to 1,000 people annually across the UK from the first half of 2027. It will focus on young people who are not in employment, education or training, including those facing significant barriers to entering the labour market.

Delivered through specialist employment and skills partners, the initiative will offer practical training, recognised qualifications, coaching and direct links to employers. Support will be adapted to local labour market needs and the circumstances of individual participants.

National Grid said the programme would create routes into its own workforce, its UK supplier network and the wider energy, construction and infrastructure sectors.
