Remote working | WFH employee wins disability discrimination case after 'camera on' instruction

A travel consultant with anxiety was subjected to disability discrimination after her employer failed to let her keep her camera off during an online training session, an employment tribunal has found.

Laura Tait, who worked remotely for Holiday Extras, felt “super anxious” about appearing on video but was asked to “start with it on and to see how she went”.

She was unable to cope and had to leave the meeting, the Croydon employment tribunal heard.

The tribunal upheld parts of Tait’s claim that Holiday Extras had failed to make reasonable adjustments, including permitting her to join meetings with her camera off and reducing the number of voice calls she was required to handle.
