Barclays is tightening its hybrid working policy for senior employees, requiring managing directors around the world to attend the office at least four days a week from October.
The change means the bank’s most senior leaders will spend one additional day at their desks each week, although employees with formal flexible working arrangements will be able to seek an exemption.
The move was first reported by The Banker, which obtained a memo sent to Barclays staff last week. The bank said the new requirement was intended to strengthen face-to-face leadership across its operations.
“Our most senior leaders will spend an additional day in the office to support collaboration, decision-making and leadership visibility,” a Barclays spokesperson told The Banker.
