Employers are being urged to push ahead with disability inclusion despite growing economic uncertainty and shifting attitudes towards diversity, as business leaders warn that now is the time to double down on inclusive workplaces rather than retreat from them.
The call comes from the Business Disability Forum (BDF), which used its global conference this week to encourage organisations to view current challenges as an opportunity to embed lasting change for disabled employees and customers, rather than allowing inclusion efforts to stall.
Speaking at the event, BDF CEO Diane Lightfoot said rapid technological, economic and societal change was creating fresh pressures for employers, but argued these could be turned into opportunities.
"Global disability inclusion brings significant benefits for disabled people, society and business," she said.
