Power of people leaders | Majority of employees are more productive with encouraging bosses

People managers play a crucial role in shaping how employees feel day-to-day, through consistent and authentic care, support and recognition.

According to Reward Gateway | Edenred’s Bridging the ROI Gap report, employees with managers who support and encourage them are 74% more productive at work, 73% more likely to stay in their role, 71% more motivated to go above and beyond their usual duties, and 68% more likely to get on with colleagues and maintain deeper relationships.

The research also found that people managers are the first port of call when it comes to issues in the workplace. More than a third (38%) of employees said they would be most likely to go to their manager if they experienced problems at work.

By comparison, 17% would turn to a trusted colleague, while 12% would go to a senior manager and 10% to a member of the leadership team. Just 6% said they would approach HR.
