'Sense of urgency' | The 'doomjobbing' trend that sees candidates firing off applications in bulk

Job seekers are increasingly turning to “doomjobbing,” a pattern of rapid, high-volume applications driven by urgency and uncertainty.

Monster’s Doomjobbing Report reveals a job market where candidates are applying en masse, often with minimal review, signalling growing inefficiency and frustration on both sides of the hiring process.

The data paints a stark picture of a job market in which speed is increasingly being prioritised over quality, with many job seekers submitting applications in bulk while spending very little time evaluating the opportunities before applying.

“Doomjobbing reflects a growing sense of urgency in today’s job market,” said Vicki Salemi, career expert at Monster.
