'Design & delivery problem' | UK ranks second lowest for employee experience despite growing investment in benefits

UK workers are among the least satisfied with their employee experience anywhere in the world, despite employers increasing spending on benefits and wellbeing, new research suggests.

Research from employee benefits platform Benifex found that just 60% of UK employees rate their overall employee experience as good or excellent, making Britain the second worst-performing country out of seven surveyed, ahead of only Singapore (56%).

The findings point to a growing disconnect between employer confidence and employee reality, with HR leaders appearing far more optimistic about workplace experience than workers themselves.

Surveying 7,000 employees and 600 HR leaders globally, including 1,000 employees and 200 HR leaders in the UK, the study found UK employee satisfaction lagged behind countries including Canada (69%), Sweden (66%) and Germany (63%).
