The BBC is facing fresh scrutiny over workplace culture allegations after claims that a male presenter physically assaulted a female colleague and remained employed by the broadcaster for years afterwards.
According to reporting by the Mail on Sunday, BBC bosses were allegedly aware of claims that the presenter broke the woman’s wrists during an incident said to have taken place around 2014, but did not report the matter to police or launch disciplinary proceedings.
The newspaper reported that the woman required hospital treatment following the alleged assault. The presenter, who has not been named, was reportedly not dismissed or formally investigated. Instead, the corporation allegedly attempted to push him out by assigning him “undesirable” shifts.
A source quoted by the Mail on Sunday alleged: “He had taken her by the wrists, crossed them over one another and then threw her down to the floor. A doctor’s report was filed but nobody did anything about it.
