'Make a difference' | Employers urged to step up support for staff facing domestic abuse

Five years on from the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, UK businesses are being urged to take more responsibility for spotting the signs of domestic abuse and supporting affected employees.

There is currently no statutory requirement for employers to support staff suffering from domestic abuse.

UK charity EIDA, the Employers' Initiative on Domestic Abuse, helps more than 2,000 employers to support colleagues who may be affected. The charity believes the workplace can be one of the only places of safety for those affected. EIDA is calling on employers to step up and do more at this year’s Security Event, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 28 - 30th April.

The event is one of Europe’s largest shows bringing together 17,000+ security professionals and more than 450 exhibitors. This year, the focus is on tackling violence against women after the government declared the issue a national emergency.
