A software engineer secretly recorded a disciplinary meeting after raising concerns about his employer’s links to an Israeli company, a hearing before Ireland’s Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has heard.
The case, first reported by The Irish Times, centres on claims of whistleblower penalisation and constructive dismissal brought by Cian Ó Laoi against BCC Risk Advisory Ltd, trading as Edgescan.
Background to the dispute
Ó Laoi, who worked on the firm’s DevOps team, told the WRC he became concerned about the level of access granted to a third-party vendor which was reselling a cloud hosting package.
The hearing was told that the vendor’s access was later revoked and changes were made in July 2024 after Ó Laoi raised concerns directly with Edgescan’s chief executive, Eoin Keary.
