827 days | Employee wins £400k after firm refused to honour decades of unused holidays

A Commercial Manager who accrued more than 800 days of unused annual leave over a 37-year career has won an almost £400,000 payout after an employment tribunal found his employer failed to pay his holiday entitlement.

A tribunal held in Watford found that Mr M Ageli had built up 827.25 days of untaken leave - roughly 2.26 years - which had been carried over for decades under a longstanding agreement with the business.

The hearing also ruled that Mr Ageli had been unfairly dismissed by Sabtina Ltd, taking his total award to £391,942.77.

Tribunal finds long-standing agreement to carry over leave

Mr Ageli (the claimant) began working for Sabtina (the respondent) in 1987 and was later promoted to Commercial Manager. His contract entitled him to 30 days’ annual leave, rising to 45 days from 1996.
