Hundreds of BrewDog employees were told they had lost their jobs during a brief online meeting after the company’s sale to a US buyer, with one former worker saying staff learned of the mass redundancies on a 15-minute call.
The brewer’s rescue deal with US cannabis and craft beer firm Tilray will see 484 roles cut and 38 bars closed across the UK and Ireland.
An anonymous employee told STV News that staff were informed of the closures during a short Teams call hosted by BrewDog chief executive James Taylor and restructuring specialist Ian Partridge of AlixPartners.
According to the meeting heard by STV, staff were told: “There is no viable interest in these bars”.
