A council has launched an internal investigation after an employee was filmed making a series of racist remarks about refugees while wearing official work uniform.
The footage, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the worker speaking on camera while dressed in a Sefton Council high-vis jacket and drinking alcohol.
The comments, which referenced a supposed “secret army” of refugees and the prospect of civil war, prompted the council to confirm it was taking action.
Council investigates video shared widely online
The video was shot in Lord Street, Liverpool and was published to YouTube in December. It has since been viewed more than a million times across various social media sites.
