‘Unacceptable’ | Hospital bosses in hot water after scrapping free tea & coffee for staff

Bosses at a Southampton hospital trust have been criticised after announcing they will no longer provide free hot beverages for staff, including tea and coffee.

The unpopular measure, implemented by University Hospital Southampton Trust, is expected to save £50,000.

Affected staff include those at Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital, some of whom have warned that morale could be negatively impacted.

Protest over cuts to ‘basic staff provisions’

The trust employs roughly 13,000 people across its departments. Among them is Sam Crooks, Royal College of Nursing Senior Regional Officer for Southampton.
