The role of an HR Manager has some of the highest competition among corporate jobs in the United Kingdom. But a survey suggests there is are opportunities abroad, with potential dream destinations such as New Zealand, Norway, Croatia, Singapore, and Finland appearing to offer far lower competition for UK-based HR managers.
Research by global employment experts Remote suggests there could be as many as 56,432 potential candidates for every open HR Manager position across the UK.
However, a shift in global hiring trends could open new doors for HR professionals. In a survey by Remote, 40% of hiring leaders at globally distributed companies said that fewer than half of their new hires come from their company’s home country, highlighting growing openness to international talent. At the same time, 38% of hiring leaders report difficulty finding candidates with the right skills, increasing the likelihood they’ll look beyond borders for experienced HR professionals.

According to supply and demand data sourced by Remote, the gap between HR Manager jobs and total candidates is far lower in ‘dream’ destinations like New Zealand compared to the United Kingdom. In New Zealand, there are an estimated 609 HR Manager job adverts and 1,303 candidates. Other less competitive and appealing job markets include Norway, Croatia, Singapore, and Finland.
