HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has named 518 companies for failing to meet National Minimum Wage (NMW) or National Living Wage (NLW) requirements. The employers have since repaid the money owed and faced financial penalties of up to 200% of the underpayment.

Among the most prominent employers listed were Pizza Express, which failed to pay over £760,000 to 8,470 workers, and Lidl GB, which underpaid more than £286,000 to 3,423 employees.

British Airways was also named, having underpaid £231,276 to 2,165 workers, while Prezzo owed £163,703 to 2,550 staff, while travel agency TUI failed to pay over £107,000 to more than 2,000 employees.
