24/7 GPs | Deliveroo expands rider perks as worker status debate rumbles on

Deliveroo has expanded its benefits package to allow riders free, 24/7 access to virtual GP consultations.

The food delivery platform said it is the first in the industry to offer the perk as it builds on a “commitment to rider welfare.”

It follows other improvements to the benefits offered to self-employed riders made in 2024, including the provision of 1,500 online educational course.

However, disputes between app-based platforms and their riders continue to roll on, with the legal classification of delivery workers still complex and unclear.
