Currys will no longer include Palestinian flags on staff badges following complaints from customers that claimed they led to a “hostile” environment for shoppers.
The electrical retailer received a notice from UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) on behalf of two customers who argued staff wearing the badges created an “intimidating atmosphere for Jewish and Israeli customers,” a report from the Telegraph said.
Palestinian flags were previously included on staff uniforms to signal to customers when an employee could speak Arabic.
“As part of our commitment to inclusion for both our customers and colleagues, these badges have included world flags to signal languages spoken,” Currys said.
