Manchester United employees have been warned by the club’s chief executive that they are committing “gross misconduct” if they leak confidential information, potentially facing the sack if they're caught giving details to journalists.
First reported by the Telegraph Sport, CEO Omar Berrada sent an email to all staff last week, amid ongoing leaks to media outlets about internal affairs at the Premier League club.
And, ironically, the warning from Berrada has also made its way to the press.
In a message more than 500 words long, Berrada wrote to staff: “Anyone disclosing information outside of the club is breaching their obligations of confidentiality, and we are very clear that this will be considered gross misconduct. To protect the club and its colleagues, additional measures are being put in place to prevent future breaches of confidentiality and also identify any persons responsible.”
